Bridge End Barn

East Wellow

4 Fri changeover

£342 - £692

Bridge End Barn has been refurbished to a high standard with a hunters lodge theme. Ideal for couples, the cottage features a stunning mezzanine.

Set just outside the New Forest and surrounded by splendid Hampshire countryside is the charming village of East Wellow. This rural community, on the banks of the River Blackwater, is steeped in history: “the toune of Welewe” left to Ethelgifu, eldest daughter of King Alfred in 899. Walk the quiet lanes past pretty thatched cottages and receive a warm welcome at both the Red Rover and Rockingham inns. Other local conveniences include a post office, filling station, ice cream parlour, and tea rooms. The local St Margaret’s church is famous as the burial site of Florence Nightingale “Lady of the Lamp”, whose former family home, Embley Park (which outskirts the village), was where she claimed to have received her first divine calling whilst sat beneath a tree. East Wellow is only a short drive away from the cathedral city of Salisbury and the historic market town of Romsey.

The charming, newly converted, Grade II listed, 2 bedroom Bridge End Barn (sleeps 4) is perfect for couples or small families looking for a well-equipped and cosy base for their New Forest Holiday. The property benefits from an imaginative use of space, with a generous downstairs double bedroom and living space, and a quirky mezzanine second bedroom with twin beds, accessed by a library ladder.
