Milford on Sea is a lovely, characterful village for those looking for a laid-back, traditional seaside holiday. Set along the cliff top, the village sprawls east, culminating in a picturesque village green surrounded by cottages, shops and independent eateries before spilling onto a one-and-a-half-mile pebble spit leading to Henry VIII’s Hurst Castle.

The sweeping sand-blasted cliffs, part-covered in a blanket of greenery and home to lots of bob-tailed rabbits, serve as a backdrop to rows of colourful beach huts standing along a gravel promenade.  Large rocks and a pebble beach protect the shoreline, which is popular with swimmers and families – especially when the tide exposes fine, golden sand begging for a sandcastle to be made. The whole area is dog-friendly all year round and super scenic, with panoramic views across the bay to the Isle of Wight.
