Come to Limen House to escape life’s frantic pace, breathe in fresh sea air, explore the pretty marine town of Lymington and visit the New Forest National Park.
This contemporary family sized dog-friendly holiday home has clean lines, sleek styling and is super comfortable. Decorated throughout in a palette of calming neutrals, warm woods, fresh hues and immaculate finishings, there’s nothing to do here but kick off your shoes and relax. Limen House is packed with a treasure trove of mod-cons and gadgets that we doubt you’ll be missing anything.
When Jack Frost is nipping at your nose from a day spent exploring the forest and coastline, come home and sink into the plump sofa in front of the large wood burner. Flick on the TV, pop a cork and sip a tipple from one of the area’s award-winning vineyards. In summer months fling open the big garden doors and sprawl out in the large south-west facing garden, light the BBQ and dine alfresco to the distant sound of seagulls patrolling the town’s busy quay.
Inside, Limen House is light and spacious. A huge window dominates one wall of the lounge, while the wall opposite features huge French doors leading on to the patio and garden, and a third aspect, big picture window. Also downstairs is a sizeable kitchen/diner, again flooded with light from a bank of windows and patio doors with joyful views out to the garden and patio. You don’t need to be a MasterChef to enjoy this kitchen, although if you are, you won’t be disappointed with a bold and beautiful Britannia Range cooker, alongside a Nespresso machine, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and ample workspace. There’s a useful snug downstairs, equipped with a TV and sofa bed for children to hang out, or for grandparents to escape for a little quiet time. To save time on busy mornings with queues for the bathroom, there’s also a downstairs shower room and WC.
Upstairs are three capacious bedrooms, each with feature windows and abundant space. The bedrooms are adorned with period pieces and an eclectic mix of solid wood furniture, creating a vintage vibe. There are two king size bedrooms and a third twin bed room with crisp white bedding, pretty throws and cushions. There’s also a family bathroom with bath and shower overhead plus a separate shower room with a walk-in shower.
Outside you’ll find garden furniture, a chiminea and BBQ on a large sun-drenched patio. Beyond is a lush lawn lined with a plentiful supply of shrubs, bushes and plants, pastel blooms and bright colourful flowers. Tall trees frame the borders of this peaceful, private spot which is perfect for spending lazy days or dining al fresco with family and friends.
If you fancy eating out, it’s only a 12-minute stroll to Lymington’s town centre where you’ll find an abundance of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Try The White Heart for great pub grub and friendly service, Lanes of Lymington and The Elderflower for fine dining, and Lounges and Coffee & Drift for delicious home-made cakes.
Days out are plentiful if you’re staying at Limen House and Lymington as your base. Head down to the town quay for fishing trips and days trips to the Isle of Wight. Take a walk along the coastline past Keyhaven Nature Reserve to Milford on Sea where you can spend a day on the beach or walk the one and a half mile pebble spit to King Henry VIII’s Hurst Castle.
A quick ten-minute spin in the car takes you to open forest for Instagrammable photos of heather laden planes and wooded copses dotted with the National Parks famous free roaming ponies, donkeys and herds of deer. Further afield (less than an hour) are the award-winning sandy beaches of Bournemouth, Southampton for shopping and Portsmouth Historical Dockyards for a glimpse of Naval heritage. For families, a visit to Paultons Park – home of Peppa Pig World is a must, as is Adventure Wonderland and Snowtrax in Christchurch.
