Let’s face it, for families with teenagers around, they’ll be sploshing about having fun whatever the weather!
Normandy Garth, Lymington | Sleeps 7, dogs welcome
A very popular house for a very good reason. This is a New Forest holiday home by the coast. Normandy Garth has a charm and reverence all of its own, with a mix of plush furnishings against a neutral colour scheme. Huge windows downstairs provide an ever-changing vista of the Solent across to the Isle of Wight and dramatic skies over the coastline. The ground floor flows effortlessly and includes a handy boot room/utility area and a family bathroom. There’s a large lounge/diner and separate well-equipped kitchen. The master ensuite bedroom is downstairs with a further three bedrooms (double, twin and single) upstairs in the cottagey rooms built into the eves.
Outside is a glorious garden mainly laid to lawn, with blooms and colourful shrubs causing the air to be a mingle of delicate floral scents and salty air from the sea on the other side of the wall. The unfenced pool is an impressive 30 ft by 15 ft and is 7ft deep in the middle, it’s heated from May bank holiday until the end of September.

Pound House, Burley | Sleeps 10
This huge family home is full of fun! It’s hub being a brightly coloured kitchen with an enormous dining table to gather and chat about the day’s activities. Pound House is peppered with design features, with an abundance of windows and bi-fold doors allowing the light to flood in and fill each of the rooms. The owners have created a clever mix of vintage and contemporary which offers guests a relaxed informal vibe to relax, unwind and feel at home. The enormous lounge is decked in sumptuous sofas and chairs in which to relax with a book from the shelf and while away a few hours in front of the fire when the season changes and nights turn chilly. Upstairs are 5 good-sized bedrooms providing plenty of room to spread out. And of course, there’s a fantastic outdoor kidney-shaped swimming pool set in pretty gardens surrounded by open forest and the famous vibrant wildlife.

Crossroads Cottage, Frogham | Sleeps 5
This cosy, country cottage with beams and flagstone floors is a little piece of country heaven with the fun of a year-round indoor swim spa. The Spa room enjoys underfloor heating and the pool water heated to 32 degrees and professionally maintained. For those not in the know, the pool has a collection of adjustable counter flow jets to suit your swimming style. If that’s not enough, there’s also a hydrotherapy seating area with fully adjustable massage function for up to six people. On beautifully renovated floorboards and terracotta floor tiles, the ground floor offers generous living space. The well-equipped, wooden country style kitchen with an inglenook Aga gives way to a large dining area and conservatory with underfloor heating. There’s another much larger inglenook in the lounge, this time home to a handsome, black cast iron log burner. Upstairs are three airy bedrooms and a family bathroom. Two are single rooms, with one having the option of a pull-out trundle style bed. The light-filled master bedroom has a solid wood double bed and ensuite shower room. The little village of Frogham is quiet and peaceful, with the nearest shop 3 miles away in Fordingbridge. However, guests of Crossroads Cottage are on the doorstep of two wonderful pubs – The Forester’s Arms is just a 100m toddle and The Three Lions is about a mile.

Thatchby Oak, Brockenhurst | Sleeps 12
As far as thatched cottages go, this one is a stunner – especially when it comes with a beautiful outdoor heated swimming pool and direct forest access. Inside it’s vast, luxurious and exceptionally beautiful – an ideal base for friends, couples or a family or two? The gated swimming pool is set in grassy gardens framed by flowering shrubs, trees and the ever-present surrounding wildlife. The ground floor comprises a useful utility/boot room and an expansive kitchen leading to a large, elegant dining room. There’s a TV and entertainment in the lounge which is surrounded by plump sofas and chairs. The room is bright and cheery, with light flooding in from a row of French doors leading on to the garden. More entertainment comes in the form of a full-size table tennis table, pool table, football table, smart TV and PlayStation 4. Upstairs is a master kingsize ensuite and 5 more bedrooms, which are a mix of twin and kingsize beds – 2 are ensuite, and the others serviced by two large family bathrooms.
The seaside is just 10 miles south. If you fancy making sandcastles, head to the sandy beaches of Avon and Highcliffe or hunt for fossils at Barton on Sea. For culture heads the Cathedral city of Salisbury is half an hour drive and one of the seven wonders of the world, Stonehenge is an easy day trip.

Whiteshoot Farm, Redlynch | Sleeps 6, dogs welcome
This super barn and outbuildings conversion has appeared in Sainsbury’s magazine, Hello and other national press to much acclaim. It’s simply stunningly, and so much more than just a place to stay. The pool is a real treat, but Whiteshoot Farm also has its own lake and rowboat, zip wire, a vineyard and even a truffle orchard all set in six acres of private land. It’s also really close to Paultons Park – the family theme park and home of Peppa Pig World, voted number one children’s theme park on Trip Advisor.
Enter the front door and to the right is a stunning living room with vaulted ceiling, an open fire, comfortable sofas and glorious views. A spiral staircase leads to a mezzanine level which has a master ensuite bedroom. The three remaining bedrooms (a double and two singles) are at the other end of the building. The open plan theme continues into the well-stocked kitchen with French doors which open out onto the swimming pool area. The house is warm and welcoming, and holidaying here, you get the feeling you are staying somewhere really special.
