No sooner have the kids gone back to school from the summer holidays, we’re pondering about where to go for half term.

With only a week to play with, do you really want to spend two days in airport queues waiting for flights? There are so many great places to visit and explore in the UK and The New Forest enjoys an eclectic mix of attractions, experiences and fun out in the fresh air. Take a look below at some good old fashioned days out in the New Forest National Park and enjoy time together making memories reminiscent of your own childhood.

Paultons Park – Home of Peppa Pig World

No trip to the New Forest with little ones in tow is complete without a trip to this family theme park – voted #1 Theme Park in the UK by TripAdvisor, Mumsnet and Which? readers! See our cottages close to Peppa Pig World.

Beaulieu

This bumper packed attraction is home to the palace House, Abbey and world famous Motor Museum – don’t miss the Top Gear exhibition and World of cars from film and TV. October half term will see plenty of extra activities for all the family including trails, spooky stories, creative craft sessions and face painting. Book a holiday cottage in Beaulieu.

Longdown Activity Farm

Children LOVE this place! There’s lots to see and do, including the petting corner where children are allowed to bottle feed kid goats and calves. There are lots of hands on things to get involved in and great indoor and outdoor play areas. Expect lots of creepy crawlies and Halloween fun! Stay nearby in one of our Lyndhurst holiday cottages.

Hurst Castle

Take a walk along a one and a half mile pebble spit to King Henry VIII’s coastal fortress. It has a fascinating history and exhibition detailing its last active service during WWII. The views are spectacular taking in the Isle of Wight, Old Harrys Rocks, Christchurch and the busy shipping lanes of the Solent. Our holiday cottages in Milford-on-Sea are just around the corner.
