Now in its fifth year, this wonderful festival grows from strength to strength with heaps of diverse guided walks through the National Park’s mystical landscape. Don your walking boots, or just a sturdy pair of shoes, and join throngs of outdoor lovers and walkers of all abilities for a great morning, afternoon, or full day out.

Each of the walks is led by local experts with an immense knowledge of the New Forest. It’s a brilliant way to meet new friends and discover the fascinating heritage, flora and wildlife of the New Forest. The Walking Festival offers a full itinerary of walks open to all ages and abilities, and plenty of walks are happy for you to bring your dog along too!

Take a look at our dog-friendly cottages.

There’s an impressive looking line-up of walks for 2018 including history hikes, jam- packed activity walks, heritage ambles, gentle strolls and, of course, a plethora of walks encompassing all the famous, vibrant wildlife – rare birds, free-roaming ponies, donkeys, cattle and the odd pig or two. The packed programme led by the New Forest National Park Authority and partner organisations also includes walks for those with limited mobility and buggy users. As the New Forest is relatively flat, you’ll find it reassuringly easy going underfoot.

With such a lush variety of landscapes, ancient trees, vast swathes of heathland and free roaming ponies, the New Forest makes an intriguing and beautiful destination to explore.
