Inside, the cottage has been decorated with design and style, creating a cosy yet elegant space. A spacious reception room leads upstairs to a bright kitchen and dining room with rich clotted cream units and fresh white walls. The warm hues of exposed terracotta red bricks create a comfy, relaxing setting to chat whilst prepping a quick meal with tasty ingredients from one of the nearby shops. The kitchen is well equipped with a treasure trove of mod cons, including integrated appliances, Nespresso coffee machine, DAB radio with Bluetooth and a dining table for four – just in case you want to invite some friends over.

The living room enjoys a huge floor-to-ceiling box pane bow window which lets sunlight flood in. On wood floors stand a collection of contemporary sofas and chairs in greys and corals. Textures of nature play a major element in the design of this home, and the lounge is no exception. It is accessorised with wicker baskets, soft fleece throws and fluffy sheepskin against a blunt feature wall of mottled grey slate. For cosy winter nights, there’s a smart white enamel faux wood burner and a TV.

The modern bathroom boasts all the hallmarks of a luxury hotel with a large walk-in waterfall shower, wash basin and loo. Natural textures and colours seamlessly flow into the only bedroom. It’s bright and modern with a creative, rustic twist. Pale grey walls contrasts beautifully against a quirky feature wall of distressed wooden

boards, punctuated with metal wall art and stylish reading lights. A grey upholstered king-size bed is dressed in crisp Egyptian cotton linens, plush pillows and a throw, perfect for long lazy mornings.

Lymington is a great base for sightseeing in the New Forest and surrounding areas. There are wonderful coastal walks, and the open forest is just a 5 minute zip up the road by car. Close by is Beaulieu Motor Museum, Palace House and Abbey – a great choice for lovers of historic houses, as well as petrol heads. Exbury Gardens is well worth a visit to see the stunning gardens and take a ride on the narrow gauge steam train. Lepe Country Park overlooks the busy shipping lanes of the Solent and the Isle of Wight. It also has a great café and numerous walks with plaques and information about the area being one of the main departure points for D-Day. Further afield, easy day trips include Bournemouth, Portsmouth and the cathedral cities of Salisbury to see the Magna Carta and Winchester.
