With two good sized en-suite bedrooms, the accommodation would suit either a family or friends wishing to holiday together in this comfortable townhouse.
The front door opens onto a hallway with a king-size en-suite bedroom. Upstairs, there is a second en-suite family bedroom with both a king-size and single bed. On the ground floor, the sociable kitchen space opens up into the lounge, and a bright and airy conservatory is home to the dining area, with rattan chairs providing a quiet spot overlooking the garden. The terrace with outdoor table and chairs is perfect for al fresco dining during your stay.
The bustling Lymington High Street is home to an array of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés and the famous Saturday Charter Market lines the street each week, and is well worth a visit. Lymington Sea Water Baths is a must for families in the summer months, with large outdoor pool, inflatable fun, paddle boarding and kayaking lessons. Just beyond is the Lymington and Keyhaven Nature Reserve, edged by the Solent Way, which is worth exploring by foot or bike, and is a fantastic spot for birdwatching. On the western banks of the Lymington River, having wended its way through the sun-dappled glades of the New Forest to find the Solent, lies the beautiful Georgian market town of Lymington.
Lymington has been an illustrious seaport for centuries and was once well-known for its shipbuilding and salt harvesting enterprises. Today, its three sparkling marinas offer berths to the many residents and visiting yachts seen docked in its harbour, tell-tale signs of the town’s vibrant sailing community. In fact, it was the gleaming Solent waters that were the training ground for local hero and five-time Olympian Sir Ben Ainslie; a letter box painted gold in celebration of his achievements can be found at the bottom of the town’s bustling high street.
Lymington’s ancient origins can be traced back to the dyke and mounds that once formed the outer defences of its Iron Age fort, known locally as Buckland Rings. When the Jutes prevailed from the Isle of Wight in the 6th century they founded a settlement called Limentun, and by the time of the Norman conquests this once sparsely populated enclave had grown into a flourishing port.
Today, the characterful, cobbled streets of Lymington are lined with artisan shops, galleries and boutiques, whilst the town’s weekly market is filled with stalls selling everything from garden plants to home-baked cakes. Lymington also plays host to a fleet of elegant restaurants, cosy tea rooms, charming cafés and stylish bistros. Lanes of Lymington, with its sleek balconies and intimate alcoves, has all the pizazz of a top London outlet, while the award-winning Elderflower on Quay Street boasts one of the finest a la carte menus in the region.

We didn't like this pub. We went for a meal but they insisted they take a credit card swipe before opening a tab. This gave us the impression that we were untrustworthy. I have never been asked for a credit card swipe at a pub ever before. Also, I was served a short measure of beer. A long way short of a full pint. When I politely asked for it to be topped up this was done very begrudgingly. Overall it was a bad experience and I could not recommend it.

Strolled round the corner from Talbot Cottage to sample the ale at my first Lymington pub. It was mid afternoon in October so the pub was quiet but very spacious. Immediately outside was a heated area - very handy for my smoker husband!! A large marquee with gorgeous greenery provided plenty of seating. Very friendly barman. Passed the Bosun’s Chair in the evening & it was heaving! A popular place indeed!

Lots of wooden beams, bare brick walls, large fire place and pretty soft furnishings - there’s also outside seating. The Angel and Blue Pig specialize in steaks, which receive great reviews. The main menu changes each month and is supplemented by daily specials. All the dishes are creative, varied and beautifully presented. A delightful spot for a drink or bite to eat.

Visited this pub whilst on holiday. My wife and I had the intention of eating there, although we had not booked. We ordered 2 drinks (beer) which I could not drink at all. I took them back to the bar with the intention of asking them to be replaced. I waited for 15 minutes. During this time the 2 bar staff who were on duty walked past several times whilst serving other customers. Neither showed any interest in finding out what my problem was or that they knew I was there. In the end I left the beer on the bar and walked out. I have visited Lymington several times in the past and hope to holiday there again in the future, but I will never go into this place again.

We loved this pub! We went with the kids for a quick drink around lunchtime and then came back in the evening without the kids. Great atmosphere, well furnished, and great drinks on offer. A vital summer attraction in this famous town, the Lymington Sea Water Baths have been welcoming visitors since 1833. These days the options are a little more varied with water sports including kayaking, paddle boarding, aqua jousting, zorbing and children’s splash pools all available. There is a cafe on site, all necessary facilities and entry prices depend on the activities you want to take part in.

Wonderful 1833 pool - I preferred the 20 degree temperature to the stifling 30 degree in the Leisure Centre. Very friendly staff. The most spacious pool I've swum in anywhere. Swam here most days £4.00 for two hours a bargain.

We swam here pretty much every morning of our stay that it was open. Good value for general swimming - the more expensive inflatables course looked like great fun but we didn't try it ourselves. Such a good way to start the day, and a great facility for the town as there's no beach. Would have been even better if it opened earlier or later in the day.

This is a must for everyone, especially for teenagers who love a challenge. We left our two on the assault course for 2 hours whilst we wandered the salt marshes on the Solent Way nearby. The ice cream kiosk next to the baths is value for money too and sells the local ice cream with generous portions.

A beautiful shingle beach with pretty painted beach huts, plenty of parking, and excellent coastal walks along Hurst spit to Hurst Castle with clear views of the Isle of Wight and needles. The superb Raft Rocks Restaurant is worth a visit with its Art deco style and roof terrace. You can also walk across the wildlife marshes to Keyhaven harbour and (in season) take the boat to Hurst Castle or the Isle of Wight.
Lovely sea walk within 15 minutes of the cottage.

Due to my husband breaking his leg we hired a mobility scooter for our holiday. It was a joy to ride along the front at Milford. Wonderful views of The Needles and lots of benches along the way too. Great access from the car parks. Would be great if the short path from Milford to Keyhaven could be the same good surface. We felt the rough stones would be too hard to ride on.

A stony beach with sandy areas as the tide goes out, and a great spot to do some fossil hunting. The cliffs are subject to considerable coastal erosion and at times parts of the beach can be cordoned off. The Beachcomber Café on the cliff top is one of the most popular cafés in the region. Plenty of parking in car parks along the cliff top as well as on-road parking.
A pleasant walk along the cliff top and along the beach. There was less cliff than last time we went to the New Forest.

Highcliffe Beach

Highcliffe beach, beneath the popular Cliffhanger Restaurant is a part sandy, part pebble beach. The beach has sloping access as well as steps down to the shore from the pay and display clifftop car park. To the east, Highcliffe beach towards Barton on Sea is a part sandy beach at the foot of the second most eroded cliff in England. This side of the beach is dog-friendly all year. However do check the tide times as high tide can make it difficult to walk along the beach.
To the west towards Highcliffe Castle beach, the promenade leads across the top of the small beaches inbetween the groynes with views across Christchurch Bay and Hengistbury Head. Groynes 4-8 have dog restrictions as does the promenade during the summer months, May-September.

We didn't like this pub. We went for a meal but they insisted they take a credit card swipe before opening a tab. This gave us the impression that we were untrustworthy. I have never been asked for a credit card swipe at a pub ever before. Also, I was served a short measure of beer. A long way short of a full pint. When I politely asked for it to be topped up this was done very begrudgingly. Overall it was a bad experience and I could not recommend it.

Strolled round the corner from Talbot Cottage to sample the ale at my first Lymington pub. It was mid afternoon in October so the pub was quiet but very spacious. Immediately outside was a heated area - very handy for my smoker husband!! A large marquee with gorgeous greenery provided plenty of seating. Very friendly barman. Passed the Bosun’s Chair in the evening & it was heaving! A popular place indeed!

Lots of wooden beams, bare brick walls, large fire place and pretty soft furnishings - there’s also outside seating. The Angel and Blue Pig specialize in steaks, which receive great reviews. The main menu changes each month and is supplemented by daily specials. All the dishes are creative, varied and beautifully presented. A delightful spot for a drink or bite to eat.

Visited this pub whilst on holiday. My wife and I had the intention of eating there, although we had not booked. We ordered 2 drinks (beer) which I could not drink at all. I took them back to the bar with the intention of asking them to be replaced. I waited for 15 minutes. During this time the 2 bar staff who were on duty walked past several times whilst serving other customers. Neither showed any interest in finding out what my problem was or that they knew I was there. In the end I left the beer on the bar and walked out. I have visited Lymington several times in the past and hope to holiday there again in the future, but I will never go into this place again.

We loved this pub! We went with the kids for a quick drink around lunchtime and then came back in the evening without the kids. Great atmosphere, well furnished, and great drinks on offer. The menu looked fantastic too, however, we didn't get to sample it! We'll definitely go again if we return to Lymington.

Perfect for lunch. They have a £6 lunchtime menu which offers excellent value for money. I had the wild mushroom linguine. Delicious and good sized portion. My husband had the burger which comes with fries and homemade ketchup. Staff are friendly and chatty too which is nice.

These days the options are a little more varied with water sports including kayaking, paddle boarding, aqua jousting, zorbing and children’s splash pools all available. Wonderful 1833 pool - I preferred the 20 degree temperature to the stifling 30 degree in the Leisure Centre. Very friendly staff. The most spacious pool I've swum in anywhere. Swam here most days £4.00 for two hours a bargain.

We swam here pretty much every morning of our stay that it was open. Good value for general swimming - the more expensive inflatables course looked like great fun but we didn't try it ourselves. Such a good way to start the day, and a great facility for the town as there's no beach. Would have been even better if it opened earlier or later in the day.

This is a must for everyone, especially for teenagers who love a challenge. We left our two on the assault course for 2 hours whilst we wandered the salt marshes on the Solent Way nearby. The ice cream kiosk next to the baths is value for money too and sells the local ice cream with generous portions.

A beautiful shingle beach with pretty painted beach huts, plenty of parking, and excellent coastal walks along Hurst spit to Hurst Castle with clear views of the Isle of Wight and needles. The superb Raft Rocks Restaurant is worth a visit with its Art deco style and roof terrace. You can also walk across the wildlife marshes to Keyhaven harbour and (in season) take the boat to Hurst Castle or the Isle of Wight.
Lovely sea walk within 15 minutes of the cottage.

Milford on Sea is a very quintessential English village which has retained all its charm. The seafront is a delight to stroll along and The Needles Eye Cafe produces lovely coffee and lunches which is well worth a visit. A walk around Sturt Pond is also enjoyable and through to the village.

Due to my husband breaking his leg we hired a mobility scooter for our holiday. It was a joy to ride along the front at Milford. Wonderful views of The Needles and lots of benches along the way too. Great access from the car parks. Would be great if the short path from Milford to Keyhaven could be the same good surface. We felt the rough stones would be too hard to ride on.

A stony beach with sandy areas as the tide goes out, and a great spot to do some fossil hunting. The cliffs are subject to considerable coastal erosion and at times parts of the beach can be cordoned off. The Beachcomber Café on the cliff top is one of the most popular cafés in the region. Plenty of parking in car parks along the cliff top as well as on-road parking.
A pleasant walk along the cliff top and along the beach. There was less cliff than last time we went to the New Forest.

Highcliffe Beach

Highcliffe beach, beneath the popular Cliffhanger Restaurant is a part sandy, part pebble beach. The beach has sloping access as well as steps down to the shore from the pay and display clifftop car park. To the east, Highcliffe beach towards Barton on Sea is a part sandy beach at the foot of the second most eroded cliff in England. This side of the beach is dog-friendly all year. However do check the tide times as high tide can make it difficult to walk along the beach.
To the west towards Highcliffe Castle beach, the promenade leads across the top of the small beaches inbetween the groynes with views across Christchurch Bay and Hengistbury Head. Groynes 4-8 have dog restrictions as does the promenade during the summer months, May-September.
