The newly added contemporary extension offers a relaxing environment with family friendly living, dining and cooking space, opening out onto a paved terrace and lawn with plenty of seating options.

From the cottage the open Forest is a 10 minute stroll, with many walking and cycling routes to explore. The villages of Burley and Brockenhurst and the popular market town of Lymington are no more than a short drive away, as are the beaches at Highcliffe, Avon Beach, Barton on Sea and Milford on Sea. The closest town of New Milton has a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.

This thoughtfully-equipped, traditional cottage offers spacious accommodation for up to six guests, making an excellent base from which to explore the New Forest National Park and local coastline of Christchurch Bay and the Solent.

Steep and winding cottage stairs lead from snug to first floor study area with sofa and desk.

Bedroom 3 with twin (3ft) beds and built-in wardrobe.

The gardens surround the cottage, offering several seating options, with both relaxed chairs and dining set with parasol.

Buried deep in the heart of the New Forest, surrounded by beautiful countryside, is the little rural hamlet of Bashley.

As well as a well-stocked village shop and post office, Bashley has a great garden centre with a popular tearoom, The Potting Shed, which serves delicious breakfasts, lunches, and afternoon tea. For a bite to eat in the evening, the 200 year-old Rising Sun pub is less than a mile away in nearby Wootton. The dog-friendly pub serves traditional pub food and has a fantastic outdoor climbing frame and play area to keep the kids entertained. Alternatively, stop off at Ferndene farm shop to stock up on fresh, locally grown fruit and veg, free range dairy products, grass fed meat and outstanding homemade sausages, and cook up a mouth-watering feast in the comfort of your New Forest holiday cottage.

Bashley is only two miles inland from the Solent, making it a great base to explore the south coast’s beautiful beaches, like Highcliffe and Barton on Sea. The pretty villages of Brockenhurst and Burley and the bustling Georgian market town of Lymington are all within a short drive, and New Milton is just a couple of miles away, with supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and a weekly street market.

Friendly and welcoming ... to dog as well as me! Indoor and outdoor environment provided relaxation while enjoying tasty meals. By using a footpath and the edge of the Forest from my holiday accommodation in Bashley I appreciated being able to walk there... complete with pony and foal views!

Old Station Tea Rooms
(2 miles)

(10)

The perfect stop when out for a walk or destination out in the forest for some scrumptious food and drink. Set on the old station line when steam trains used to ferry passengers between Sway and Burley, these tearooms have a new lease of life. Serving hearty portions of well cooked food and deliciously naughty cakes and cream teas. There’s plenty of seating inside and out on the patios.

Excellent to see a bit of the old railway still in evidence and put to such good and popular use. Even in early March the tea rooms were packed, but service still good. Would highly recommend a visit.

Lovely tea rooms on our walk, they suggest booking in advance but was able to walk in off of our walk, sat outside, nice sandwiches & good cup of tea. Hot food also served, good service would call again

Perfect stop for a cream tea when out cycling. Lovely place

August 2020

A lovely place to have breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Cakes are delicious. Individual Lemon meringue cakes the biggest I've seen! Staff very welcoming and dogs allowed. There is currently scaffolding around the building which obviously spoils the look of the place but this is only temporary so don't let it put you off.

A pleasant treat and good value for those on a budget. The staff were friendly and accommodating for those with food intolerances and happily moved the menu around to match suitability. There is a petrol station next door reasonably priced so that you can fill up ready for the next adventure.

We were disappointed that it is no longer open.

June 2023

as guests of Apple court house the gardens were available for us to browse- however, one day we found out someone had opened the gats and entered the gardens for themselves arguing that they had driven from Devon. Wrong time of year to get the advantage of the beauty but could visualise the attraction

March 2019

Good selection of healthy plants for sale.

July 2018

Barton on Sea
(3 miles)

(2)

A stony beach with sandy areas as the tide goes out, and a great spot to do some fossil hunting. The cliffs are subject to considerable coastal erosion and at times parts of the beach can be cordoned off. The Beachcomber Café on the cliff top is one of the most popular cafés in the region. Plenty of parking in car parks along the cliff top as well as on-road parking.

A pleasant walk along the cliff top and along the beach. There was less cliff than last time we went to the New Forest.

June 2023

Super walk, nice and easy and great place for a meal or tea and cake by the car park.

April 2019

Highcliffe Beach
Highcliffe Beach
(4 miles)

Highcliffe beach, beneath the popular Cliffhanger Restaurant is a part sandy, part pebble beach. The beach has sloping access as well as steps down to the shore from the pay and display clifftop car park. To the east, Highcliffe beach towards Barton on Sea is a part sandy beach at the foot of the second most eroded cliff in England. This side of the beach is dog-friendly all year. However do check the tide times as high tide can make it difficult to walk along the beach.

To the west towards Highcliffe Castle beach, the promenade leads across the top of the small beaches inbetween the groynes with views across Christchurch Bay and Hengistbury Head. Groynes 4-8 have dog restrictions as does the promenade during the summer months, May-September.

A family friendly beach close to Mudeford and Christchurch Harbour with plenty to do for all.  For those with disabilities or small children there is a beach level carpark, and to keep everyone safe there is a designated bathing area and a seperate area allocated for watersports, all overseen by lifeguards in the summer months.  This pretty sand and shingle beach is backed by trees and countryside and if you fancy some fresh local seafood or simply a coffee, ice cream or a cold drink, the beach is home to the excellent Noisy Lobster, serving breakfast, lunch and supper all year round.

Nice beach with good facilities

April 2023

Beautiful beach, lots of sand for youngsters- definitely been high on our favourites list, for more than 30 years and still is now the 'children' are nearly 30! - well worth the drive from New Forest. The Noisy Lobster is great and now has an 'outdoor upstairs' too. The Beach Cafe, half-way along, is excellent too- used to do very good carrot cake! The connecting beach towards Steamer Point is dog-friendly all year which is a bonus. Walking to the quay end, you can catch the ferry to Hengistbury Head which is beautiful beach too and often quieter (top favourite!) Even this last week (JULY 2021) the 'kids' wanted to crab-fish from Mudeford Quay!!

August 2021

Milford on Sea
(5 miles)

(16)

A beautiful shingle beach with pretty painted beach huts, plenty of parking, and excellent coastal walks along Hurst spit to Hurst Castle with clear views of the Isle of Wight and needles. The superb Raft Rocks Restaurant is worth a visit with its Art deco style and roof terrace. You can also walk across the wildlife marshes to Keyhaven harbour and (in season) take the boat to Hurst Castle or the Isle of Wight.

Lovely sea walk within 15 minutes of the cottage.

March 2024

A lovely place to stay. So much to see and do locally and within easy reach.

August 2023

Milford on Sea is a very quintessential English village which has retained all its charm. The seafront is a delight to stroll along and The Needles Eye Cafe produces lovely coffee and lunches which is well worth a visit. A walk around Sturt Pond is also enjoyable and through to the village.

June 2023

Lovely quiet location for a beach walk. Great for watching the sea and waves without the crowds.

June 2023

Brilliant beach.

September 2022

Beautiful beach with views to The Isle of Wight. Good for swimming, picnics and walking. Very good car parking and public toilets. Lots of good places to eat and drink either next to the beach or in the village, a short walk away

July 2022

A proper gem. Great location for the new forest. The village is great and was only a short walk from our house. Not too busy or full of holiday makers. We will be back.

October 2021

One of my favourite places

July 2021

Good place to go if you have a buggy or wheelchair as there is a tarmac path along the top of the cliffs with great views of the Needles, plenty of parking and a kiosk serving refreshments.

September 2020

Lovely village with adequate shops on a very pretty green.

September 2019

Due to my husband breaking his leg we hired a mobility scooter for our holiday. It was a joy to ride along the front at Milford. Wonderful views of The Needles and lots of benches along the way too. Great access from the car parks. Would be great if the short path from Milford to Keyhaven could be the same good surface. We felt the rough stones would be too hard to ride on.

June 2019

Love Milford on Sea so old fashioned hasn't changed much since I use go as a child in the 1960/70s

April 2019

great walking area, small cafe-the needles, children climbing play park- crashing waves over stoned beach

March 2019

Great for a dog walk along the spit to Hurst Castle. Needles Eye cafe is a welcome break, quite good food but very busy and a bit basic.

December 2017

Fantastic sea location with goods pubs, shops etc

November 2017

Lovely village, plenty of shops and places to eat - no post office though.

June 2017

January 2024

The owners very kindly left us lovely gifts to unwrap and decorated the property for Xmas which was an added bonus. Sadly there was no time to write an extremely positive review in the visitors book regards, Marty

November 2023

A very enjoyable visit in this quirky holiday let. The cottage itself is very old with a very low ceiling in the entrance hall (you do have to watch your head on the oak beams). The new extension is very modern and well designed although you do get a little road noise at times (it is quite a busy road). Well located, maintained to a high standard, comfortable beds. A very useful set of instructions about the different appliances from the owners, who have also made available the New Forest free parking badge to guests.

February 2023

We had a lovely week overall, blessed with three days of beautiful weather and we loved the one big modern extension where we could be together all of the time.

June 2022

A lovely cottage and we did enjoy our stay regardless of the points I have made.

April 2022

Lovely place, lovely weather. The outside area is really beautiful. Unfortunately the dishwasher broke down on the last day but these things happen!

July 2021

A very beautiful cottage - well appointed. Location is just right for the New Forest and the the coast.

July 2021

We had an absolutely blissful time in this wonderful cottage - Thank you! It was a perfect bolthole to explore the glorious New Forest area - Highly recommend The Rising Sun pub as the food was lovely & the playground great for our 4 year old! The local farm shop was brilliant, New Forest Wildlife park a hit, Bolderwood was great for deer-spotting & of course the beaches were stunning! We'll be back next year!!

June 2021

beautiful chocolate box cottage with the added bonus of the extension for space.

June 2019

We really loved this cottage which was well equipped and in a really excellent location in between the beach and the forest. The location and quaintness is its best asset. Thanks.

November 2018

We had a wonderful vacation and have now booked our summer holiday for 2019 at the same venue. Totally relaxing and was simply the perfect location to celebrate my wife's 50th with my family!

October 2018

Beautiful cottage fantastic for exploring the New forest and the coast.

October 2018

we loved our stay and can't wait to return. Thank you

May 2018

The cottage was lovely, we loved the fact that it was completely safe for the dog and that we could have the car in the driveway behind locked gates, if I had anything negative to say it would be that it would be difficult to walk in to the new forest as the road was very busy and there is no pathway directly outside the cottage, but this doc not spoil our holiday and I would not hesitate in returning or reccomending it to any one

March 2017

We had a lovely stay in this cosy warm cottage. Everything was there that we needed

August 2015

A superb cottage, extremely well situated for travelling around the New Forest and beyond. Very highly recommended.

April 2015

We had a fantastic experience at the cottage, the pictures really don't do it justice. It's extremely professionally renovated and the level of attention to detail is flawless. We will hopefully be back this year!

January 2015

Kingscliffe Cottage is absolutely superb - we could not fault it and would love to come back!

January 2015

Fabulous cottage! The interior is second to none. Easy access to any part of the south coast. Could not have wished for a better holiday. Loved it!

January 2015

Had a great week at Kingscliffe Cottage. It's been very well restored, beautifully furnished and is full of character!
