The small town of Fordingbridge is situated in the North West of the New Forest, although not in the New Forest National Park it is in a great location for Fordingbridge holidays.

Fordingbridge has a history dating back to the middle ages. The Medieval seven-arched bridge over the River Avon is the best known view in Fordingbridge.

The early English parish church has many magnificent features and several houses in the town date back to the Georgian era. Fordingbridge holiday cottages have easy access to the Avon Valley and the New Forest National Park. The town has a variety of shops and plenty of traditional country pubs.

Smuggler King and Augustus John

Once an industrial and commercial centre, Fordingbridge boasted many trades and was noted for its smuggling. The infamous Captain Diamond, the "Smuggler King", spent much of his time in a local hostelry. Augustus John is also an icon here in Fordingbridge, a bronze statue of the controversial painter stands on the banks of the Avon near the Great Bridge.
