Adventures for a New Forest holiday begin on your cottage doorstep if you’re staying in this twee little hamlet. Surrounded by open forest, there are walks, trails and bike rides radiating all directions from Wootton. It’s only ½ a mile to the village of Bashley, which has a petrol station, post office and shop. You’ll also find one of the best farm shops in the area – Ferndene, a treasure trove of fruit, veg, dairy, meat, local produce and flowers at extremely good prices. For a good honest meal and superb cask conditioned ales, your local free house pub, The rising Sun is just a ten-minute walk away. The pub’s large beer garden is the perfect spot to watch the sun go down.

Taking the title as the home for the world’s most beautiful motorcycles, the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum is the brainchild of motorcycling legend Sammy Miller - 11 time British Champion, and winner of over 1400 events and counting - this is a living museum with almost every motorcycle in full running order.  Perfect for petrol heads!

In a selfie culture who wouldn’t be interested in a New Forest Photo Trek?  Treks designed around their photo taking opportunity, this is a unique opportunity to explore the New Forest with your family album in mind.  Teaching you photographic composition, abstract, landscape, close up, exposure compensation, depth of field, as well as camera technique while you go on a gentle wander through the New Forest, it’s a chance to learn a skill and understand the area at the same time.

Hordle Lakes Course Fishing

A carp fishery set in 11 acres with seven individual spring fed lakes, Course Fishing at Hordle Lakes is a chance for all ages and abilities to enjoy a day of fishing.  With plenty of parking a short walk from the activity, fish for Bream, Tench, Perch, Rudd, Chub and Roach with huge bags being taken all year round.

Apple Court Gardens

A beautiful formal garden created more than 30 years ago, in the abandoned, walled kitchen garden of Yeatton House.  Today it is a plant lovers paradise, packed with unusual and mature flowers, shrubs and trees from around the world.

Good selection of healthy plants for sale.

as guests of Apple court house the gardens were available for us to browse- however, one day we found out someone had opened the gats and entered the gardens for themselves arguing that they had driven from Devon. Wrong time of year to get the advantage of the beauty but could visualise the attraction
